Physical Therapy Technician
Position Summary:
$12-$15 per hour based on qualifications
Brings patients back to the clinical area. Prepares patients and equipment for treatment. Operates
under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist at all times. Performs tasks to maintain the
department in an orderly condition. Acts as back-up to office staff when directed.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Obtains equipment, materials, and supplies from storage areas and positions them appropriately for
use. - Prepares hot packs and whirlpool for use.
- Assists the therapists to support the patient during transfers and ambulation.
- Observes the patients during treatment and notifies the therapist of any distress.
- Changes linen on treatment tables.
- Cleans equipment, tanks, carts, stools, exercise implements, and treatment tables.
- Performs routine modality treatments as approved by the therapists.
- Complies with safety, hazardous materials, universal precautions, and infection control policies.
- Maintains a working knowledge of all clerical duties.
- Assists the office staff as necessary when not involved in direct patient care.
- May perform other tasks as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school graduate.
- Ability to read and write English.
- Previous on the job training.
- Knowledge of physical therapy procedures.
- Ability to learn new procedures and techniques.
- Above average Interpersonal skills and effective communication.
- Must be able to follow instructions and relate to staff and patients.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Requires full range of body motion, including but not limited to sitting, standing, walking, kneeling,
crouching, stooping, squatting, twisting, climbing, stretching, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
Must be able to manage patients with or without additional manual or mechanical assistance. Corrected vision to normal range, bilateral hand and finger dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and full communication skills.
Frequently works under stressful conditions. Works in environmentally controlled areas. May be
exposed to communicable disease, blood, or body fluid, viral and bacterial contaminate and chemical
hazards common to a physical therapy practice. May drive personal vehicle occasionally during working
hours.
